Nano alias Jean Tantôt fut 30 ans durant une figure incontournable du monde de la nuit à Saint-Tropez. Son restaurant « Chez Nano » place de la Mairie, puis son bar-salon de la rue Sibille où se pressaient George Michael, Charlotte Rampling ou la très remarquée Lolo Ferrari, ont marqué les esprits. « Nano c’était la générosité avec 3 G. Ajoutée à une gentillesse et une bonne humeur incroyables ! »se souvient Philippe Paga, son ex-voisin de l’Esquinade. Disparu à 80 ans après s’être retiré des paillettes au début des années 2000, Nano a eu droit a une salve d’ultimes bravos le 26 avril, en l’église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption, lors de la sortie du cercueil au rythme d’un vibrant et jubilatoire « I’m Still Standing » signé Elton John, qu’il a tant de fois accueilli à Saint-Tropez.
Jean Tantôt, alias Nano, was a major figure in the Saint-Tropez nightlife for 30 years. He was most notable for his restaurant “Chez Nano”, located Place de la Mairie, and his lounge bar on Rue Sibille, where George Michael, Charlotte Rampling and the outstanding Lolo Ferrari used to go. “Nano was the incarnation of generosity, kindness and good humour,” remembers Philippe Paga, his ex-neighbour from L’Esquinade. After withdrawing from the nightlife in the early 2000s, Nano passed away at the age of 80. He was given a final salute on April 26 in the church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption. His coffin was brought out to the vibrant and jubilant rhythm of “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John, whom he had welcomed so many times in Saint-Tropez.
