Les 23e Voiles latines de Saint-Tropez du 1er au 2 juin
Le patrimoine maritime méditerranéen s’affiche à quai à l’occasion de cette nouvelle édition des Voiles latines. La commune, le port et la Société Tropézienne des Voiliers de tradition présidée par une figure locale, Jean-Claude Moreu, accueillent cette année une quarantaine de bateaux (pointus, gréements Marconi…) à voir le long du môle Jean-Réveille aux côtés de leur « grande sœur », la Tartane, véritable mascotte du rassemblement tropézien. Comme toujours, des moments de partage et d’échanges sur les techniques de navigation et de restauration de ces petits bateaux de pêche aux coques colorées qui s’aligneront en provenance du Var et des Alpes-Maritimes. Si la sardinade en musique du samedi soir est réservée aux participants, le public pourra apprécier les ateliers de charpentier de marine et de matelotage qui prendront place à proximité de la tour du Portalet pour des séances de démonstrations durant les deux jours. Deux sorties à vocation avant tout conviviale sont prévues en baie tropézienne le week-end pour les équipages. Le samedi entre 11h et 14h, ponctuée d’un pique-nique non loin de chez B.B. en baie des canebiers, puis le lendemain entre 10h et 13 h. Si les conditions météorologiques sont réunies, un trois mâts à voiles latines de 20 mètres embarquera le public (une participation sera demandée) pour suivre la flotte en vadrouille. La manifestation se conclura par une remise de prix le dimanche à partir de 15 heures, toujours sur le môle, avec notamment des récompenses pour le « plus beau bateau » ou le propriétaire à l’origine de la « plus belle restauration ».
The Mediterranean maritime heritage is on display at the docks for this new edition of the Voiles Latines. The municipality, the port, and the Société Tropézienne des Voiliers de Tradition, chaired by a local figure, Jean-Claude Moreu, welcome around forty boats (pointus, Marconi rigs, etc.) along the Jean-Réveille pier, alongside their « big sister, » the Tartane, the true mascot of the Tropezian gathering. As always, there will be moments of sharing and exchange on the navigation and restoration techniques of these small fishing boats with colorful hulls, which will gather from Var and Alpes-Maritimes. While the Saturday evening « sardinade » in music is reserved for participants, the public can enjoy workshops on marine carpentry and knot tying near the Portalet tower for demonstration sessions during the two days. Two outings, primarily for camaraderie, are planned in the bay of Saint-Tropez over the weekend for the crews. On Saturday, between 11 am and 2 pm, punctuated by a picnic near B.B.’s residence in the Baie des Canebiers, then on Sunday between 10 am and 1 pm. If weather conditions permit, a three-masted sailing ship of 20 meters will take the public on board (a participation fee will be required) to follow the fleet on its wanderings. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony on Sunday starting at 3 pm, still on the pier, with prizes for the « most beautiful boat » or the owner responsible for the « most beautiful restoration. »
La 71e Giraglia du 7 au 15 juin
La 71e édition de la Giraglia, l’une des plus prestigieuses et anciennes régates de Méditerranée organisée par le Yacht Club Italiano en collaboration avec la Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez entérine cette année un partenariat avec la marque Loro Piana. Ainsi rebaptisée « La Loro Piana Giraglia », la célèbre régate comprendra pour la première fois quatre jours de courses inshore à Saint-Tropez, du samedi 8 au mardi 11 juin. Un beau spectacle en perspective à suivre à quai avant le grand départ de la course au large de 241 milles (Saint-Tropez – Giraglia – Gênes) qui sera donné le mercredi 12 juin. Née en 1953 pour ressouder les liens entre l’Italie et la France après la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, cette course qui relie Saint-Tropez à Gênes en passant par le phare classé monument historique de Giraglia, au nord de la Corse, a débuté avec à peine vingt-deux participants. Aujourd’hui, la course est devenue l’une des plus importantes dans la voile de haut niveau en Méditerranée et accueille à chaque édition quelque 200 bateaux, parmi lesquels des yachts et Maxis de 30 mètres.
The 71st edition of the Giraglia, one of the most prestigious and oldest regattas in the Mediterranean organized by the Yacht Club Italiano in collaboration with the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, this year confirms a partnership with the brand Loro Piana. Thus renamed « La Loro Piana Giraglia, » the famous regatta will include, for the first time, four days of inshore races in Saint-Tropez, from Saturday, June 8th to Tuesday, June 11th. A beautiful spectacle to follow dockside before the grand departure of the 241-mile offshore race (Saint-Tropez – Giraglia – Genoa) on Wednesday, June 12th. Born in 1953 to strengthen ties between Italy and France after World War II, this race, which links Saint-Tropez to Genoa via the historic monument lighthouse of Giraglia, north of Corsica, started with barely twenty-two participants. Today, the race has become one of the most important in high-level sailing in the Mediterranean and welcomes around 200 boats at each edition, including yachts and Maxi yachts of 30 meters.
XXIVe Trophée Bailli de Suffren départ de Saint-Tropez le 22 juin
En 2024, la navigation va emmener les participants vers l’Ouest et Alghero cité Catalane en Sardaigne, les eaux bleues de l’île de San Pietro et son port de Carloforte, avant une escale en Afrique. La Tunisie et sa magnifique Marina de Bizerte vont recevoir les équipages. La suite de leur route les ménera sous les remparts de La Valette à Malte où sera jugée l’arrivée finale. Voiliers de Tradition ( Époque et Classiques jaugés CIM), voiliers de l’International Maxi Association jaugés IRC et tous bateaux jaugés IRC figurent parmi les classes admises au départ. La conclusion maltaise est fixée au vendredi 5 juillet. Elle débouchera sur la grande soirée de remise des prix le lendemain soir au Grand Harbour Marina avec en apothéose la remise du « Sabre d’Honneur de l’Amiral Satan », récompense suprême distinguant le meilleur voilier de tradition, tandis que le « Sabre du Jedi » sera réservé aux voiliers jaugés IRC. En marge des courses une souscription est lancée pour faire réaliser à l’identique une statue de Pierre-André de Suffren. Celle qui trône au quai d’honneur tropézien et devant laquelle se recueillent tous les ans les équipages lors des cérémonies protocolaires du départ. « Notre projet est d’offrir à Malte cette statue pour le Jubilé du Trophée Bailli de Suffren en 2025 en hommage à ce grand marin et marquer les liens qui unissent la France et Malte, ainsi que notre ambassade entre Saint-Tropez et Birgu Vittoriosa dont les ports sont jumelés. La souscription est lancée exactement 160 ans après celle ayant permis la réalisation de la statue de Saint-Tropez et nous faisons appel à vous tous pour y contribuer et laisser votre nom comme Chevalier Corsaire du Bailli », détaille le président du Marenostrum Racing Club et célèbre skipper, Lionel Péan.

The Maltese conclusion is set for Friday, July 5th. It will lead to the grand prize-giving evening the following evening at the Grand Harbour Marina, culminating in the presentation of the « Sword of Honor of Admiral Satan, » the highest award for the best traditional sailboat, while the « Jedi Sword » will be reserved for sailboats measured by IRC. In addition to the races, a subscription is launched to have a statue of Pierre-André de Suffren made identically.
